Dancing on the Beach....kind of

I found this online this morning. The weather screams SPRING and dancing on the beach is enticing. The geniuses at MIT have come up with some way to create a fake beach. Leave it to the Beavers. Pun intended. (The beaver is the MIT mascot). I'll just laugh alone at that one.

Dance Like There's No Music?

I've never been to a rave, but I like the idea of loud music, glow sticks, and crazy people (who are crazy before tripping on E). I've heard about silent raves. A guy and a girl from BU I once met on the T told me they went last year and it was a lot of fun. This year's is approaching on April 17.

I found it on facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=37988705142

Host:Boston | Silent Ravers
Date: Friday, April 17, 2009
Time: 7:30pm - 8:30pm
Location: Faneuil Hall in front of the Sam Adams Statue
Street:Faneuil Hall Marketplace

"You know what it's like to be blasting music and not being able to resist the urge to dance. Now imagine yourself with your headphones on and favorite music cranked up surrounded by hundreds of fellow silent ravers, all like you, unable to resist the urge to dance. You let go, feel the sound flow through you, move to the music, dance! "

BYOG - Bring Your Own Glow!

What is a silent rave?
A silent rave is a flash mob of people dancing to their own music using headphones.

1. Make a playlist
2. Meet the mob
3. Put on headphones
4. RAVE!!!

Meet me there with a glowstick in hand. I love dancing like an idiot on the T or down the street to my own playlist and now I'll have an excuse to dance to music that no one else can hear.

My birthday is coming up on April 4th. More importantly on that day is the World Pillow Fight.
Just as it sounds, pillow fights will take place all across the globe, including Boston!

I believe it will be in Copley Square, but am awaiting confirmation.

<----Check out this picture from last year

I am ready to take out end of semester frustration by slamming pillows into total strangers.

I'm thinking about creating a team if anyone wants to join? Veronica mentioned costumes and I was intrigued.

Also fun is this book I got today-NEW MATH by Craig Damrauer. (morenewmath.com)
It's a small book filled with fun life equations
Check some of my favorites out:

Much more fun than other kinds of math.

Nothing tastes as good as free (Irish) breakfast.

Everyone knows I am all about free food and early mornings.

This morning Becki, Veronica and I left at 5:30 a.m and got FREE Breakfast at The Black Rose near Fanueil Hall. We couldn't go in the bar-they were carding at 6 a.m., but we did get a free Irish sausage sandwich! We were all dressed up and people kept telling us we looked like we were ready to start drinking. 6 a.m is a ridiculous time for anything with alcohol in my opinion, but everyone seems to be excited for beer today. Yuck.
We stopped and got hot chocolate/coffee and donuts and walked to the harbor to watch the sunrise.

What a beautiful way to start the day.

Today=NO CLASSES!
Tonight=Dropkick Murphys at the House of Blues

All I need now is some corn beef and cabbage. What better way to spend St. Patrick's Day?

Six Reasons Why I Should Start Blogging Again

1. To procrastinate from homework
2. To avoid becoming a Twitterer
3. To inform people about fun things going on so I don't have go alone anymore
4. Because the new Facebook is awful and I need something else to play with
5. To get in the habit for when I go to Asia and have to keep a journal
6. To keep my New Years Resolution...three months later

On a another note:
I covered a "Pi Fight" for the Huntington News yesterday. At exactly 1:59 the group smashed pies at eachother. Round 1 was a free for all. It was messy and insane. Round 2 was dodgeball style with teams of three. So fun. This awesome woman, Rebecca, president of the Boston Skeptics, ran the Pi Fight. They also ate pie afterward, though one was lost to a Hobo who kept asking us for pot and was dismayed we only had pie. "Not even pot pie?" As Rebecca said, "We now have one less pie, but we also have one less hobo."

Here are some pictures (the rest are on facebook):

What better way to celebrate math than smashing someone in the face with whipped cream?
