Windows Down + Music Up
= pure unadulterated happiness.
Things that have brought me joy lately:
1. My family visiting!

2. Driving around Boston in Veronica's car with Becki and Chelsea and singing at the top of our lungs.

3. IHOP!

4. Finally getting the chocolate chip pancakes I've been talking about for months.

5. My sweet souvenir courtesy of our waiter Marco.

6. Hanging out in Target.

7. Stumbling upon a beach.

8. Finding the name of my hometown on a tag at Target.

9. Blowing bubbles in my chocolate milk.

Busy Bee
The weather has been excellent, though I have been forced to sit inside and study for finals instead of enjoying it. I am 3/4 done and leave Wednesday for home which blows my mind. Dave and I have the day off tomorrow and are going to explore Providence. It is supposed to be 69 degrees :) Tomorrow is also the Flight of the Conchords concert. Monday off = 4 day weekend before my final on Tuesday.

Lots has been happening lately. We spent an afternoon in the Boston Commons. My friends played soccer while I lounged and then danced embarassingly in public with Becki and James.

I went out for dinner alone after and got a huge bowl of Pho. My friend Jon always says he feels sad that I do things alone, but I sometimes like flying solo. The Pho was okay-nothing to write home about.

The Drag Queens made another visit to Afterhours, our schools small concert venue/coffee hangout. They are always entertaining, though this time they were so vulgar even I was uncomfortable and had to look away at times.

I visited NYC overnight to stay with Robin and see cousins in from Israel. I came home Saturday night so I could go to church on Easter. Though I am an atheist (culturally Jewish) and have incredibly mixed feelings on religion, I like to expose myself to all forms of worship...and I love all holidays, except Yom Kippur.
Beck and I went to a Black Baptist Church for Easter services. I could count less than a dozen Caucasians. The (two hour long) service was fun. It was very cool-full of dancing and clapping and "Hallelujah!'s". T. I think religion should be about happiness and celebration of faith and I loved that these people we singing their hearts out and dancing. There was a real sense of unity there, and everyone was incredibly welcoming.
The congregation made all the first time guests stand up and say our names and where we were from into a microphone. Becki thinks the "Amen" we got was extra loud, but I was too nervous to notice since any form of public speaking scares the shit out of me. They did give us a sweet welcome gift bag afterward, though.
We even got free breakfast of eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gritz.
Can I get an Amen for free food?

Another cool thing was the Zombie Walk. I didn't participate, but I took tons of pictures. People were so confused as to what was happening and had mixed reactions-smiles "WTF?!" and one girl even cried.

A Haiku for all the people laying out sunbathing on the quad...
Boston people think
Sixty degree weather means
That it is summer.

Kobe Beef, Ahi Tuna, Foie Gras, Oh My!
Today my dining hall had the best dinner ever. It was a special night where they served mocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Tuxedo-ed cooks served us and we had AMAZING food. Of course my partner in crime Veronica and I were the first ones in line.

I ate until I couldn't anymore...and then I convinced myself I could eat more, and then I got sick.
It was worth suffering a stomachache to stuff in the extra foie gras tarts.

They even had live music. Classy.

This guy made frog's legs. I enjoyed them and was surprised that most of my friends did as well.

We made a new friend, Tricia. She also likes to eat massive amounts of food. We planned out the most efficient way to eat everything. I am happy to report I ate everything on the menu at least once.
So it wasn't exactly a Passover sedar. I missed celebrating the holiday, but I feel I got a good deal still.
Cheers to good food.

Take me out to the ball game...
Red Sox Opening Day at Fenway Park!
Veronica and I volunteered to collect recyclables for the first seven innings and then were allowed to watch the game. They even gave us a free t-shirt and hot dog/drink. I HATE hot dogs, but for some reason eating a hot dog at a baseball game has the All-American appeal that makes it taste good. No sauerkraut, though :(.
Senator Kennedy did the first pitch. Massachusetts loves that man.
Also, I finally figured out that the green mascot represents the Green Monster.
I feel stupid.

Procrastination=Poetry
Veronica and I wrote a poem about MBTA. Tonight we had a Social Change Through Peace Games meeting which sparked our creativity. I should be an art teacher...except for my lack of artistic talent.

Green line, why do you never come?
You are so green, yet you make me so blue.
I wait for the E at Boylston stop,
But it always ends up that I have to walk.
Oh MBTA why do you close at 12?
I need a ride to go back to school!
IHOP is open but I can't there!
I WANT SOME FREAKIN' PANCAKES!
Party is over,
Taxis aren't cheap
I wore high heeled shoes
Can't walk on these feet!
Orange line, why are you so sketch?
Northeastern-put some ticket machines on the deck.

I finally had my first real feeling of Spring...
...when I smelled someone mowing the grass. Also, the weather is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l today and the Red Sox opening game is tomorrow. Veronica and are skipping class and going for FREE! NU Green Team allows you go to the game if you pick up bottles. Good cause, good game, good deal.
My birthday was this weekend. It was a good one: Ethiopian food, the pillow fight at Columbus Park, and the Easter Egg hunt.

My friends were very amused that there was no silverware used at Addis Red Sea. Instead injera, a spongy bread, is used to pick up food. It also serves as a plate so it soaks up all the sauces at the end. They got used to it and I think even enjoyed it.

Becki and Veronica gave me cupcakes from Sweet and Nasty, a sex shop/bakery. Mmm.

The pillow fight was intense. We had to conceal our pillows until the signal. A bullhorn sounded a people went to town. Little kids and big men all had one mission: hit as many people as possible. I wish there were more random, fun things like this that brought diverse crowds together.
How fun would it be if world problems were solved with pillows instead of guns? I now have a mental image of Israelis and Palestinians throwing pillows instead of rocks.
We found other Huskies and attacked BU kids with our pillows. They yelled about winning the Beanpot and we ambushed them. We are so fierce

Feathers were flying everywhere. I saw a girl with feathers stuck in her dreads which made me laugh a lot. Dead pillows were abandoned.

I planned a hybrid Easter Egg/Passover Hunt for Hall Council.
"A twist on the classic Easter Egg Hunt. In the tradition of Passover, one egg will have a piece of Matzah instead of candy. The grand prize goes to the finder of the matzah, while other prizes (EASTER BASKETS and T-SHIRTS!) will be given to those who find the most eggs."

I like to hide them in fun places. Some weren't found, and I hope that something during the week passerbys see them and are amused.
